On July 30 International Friendship Day, Shelly Spaulding, CEO of The Center for Mental Health in Colorado named Paul Uhl as the 2020 Behavioral Health Champion in Crested Butte, Colorado.
Every year The Center for Mental Health holds its Friendraiser event, an evening of fun, music, visiting with old friends, meeting new friends, and gathering in awareness of mental health. Unfortunately because of the COVID Pandemic, the 2020 in-person Friendraiser was cancelled.
However, we want to make sure we're still recognizing our 2020 Behavioral Health Champions because we don't want to diminish the importance of their role in the coming year.
We will recognize them in-person at our 2021 Friendraiser but wanted to go ahead and do that virtually today.
As you may or may not know, today is International Friendship Day, so what better way to recognize our Behavioral Health Champions for our annual Friendraiser than on Friendship Day. So, without further ado, I will introduce our 2020 winners.
Our 2020 Regional Behavioral Health Champions are:
• Mr. Paul Uhl from Crested Butte, Colorado
• Ms. Cheryl Oeltjenbruns from Delta, Colorado
Our 2020 Staff Behavioral Health Champion is:
• Angela Bean from Montrose, Colorado
Our 2020 Lived Experience Behavioral Champions are:
• Mr. Dave Husby from Montrose, Colorado
• Mr. Majacemeno Gallegos from Delta, Colorado
These individuals exemplify what it means to be a Behavioral Health Champion. Through their efforts, their experience, and their strengths, they bring a true definition of a champion. Together they share the heart and passion that it takes to make a difference in the mental well-being of our communities.
So please join me in congratulating our 2020 Behavioral Health Champions and hopefully we will be able to be in-person for our Friendrasier.
Please save the date for May 14, 2021, and send good hope and vibes that we will not be in the middle of a pandemic at that point, and that we can celebrate our 2020 Champions as well as our 2021 Champions in-person.
